Open distributed project · live dataset

The first trillion
prime numbers.

An open distributed project to generate, verify, store and distribute 10¹² prime numbers.

  • Generate the list of prime numbers in fixed-size segments using JavaScript and WebAssembly code running in individual web browsers.
  • Verify each segment through a computation in a different browser and by comparison with known prime-counting values.
  • Store the data using an efficient data-reduction algorithm.
  • Distribute all files freely.

Validated range over calendar time

Daily bars show the cumulative integers covered by the contiguous validated range in UTC. The current day is highlighted as in progress and refreshes every 15 seconds.

The first point will appear after segment 0 is validated.

Downloadable files

From the following table, you can download all validated segments grouped in ZIP files. Each file groups up to 100 independently validated segments.

The first segment of the first file does NOT contain the prime numbers 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19 or 23.

Segment compression ratios

Gzip/raw and gzip bytes per prime as a function of range N, on a logarithmic scale up to 1012.

The first point will appear after a segment is validated.
